On
January 1, 2004, THP made a mark in its history when team founder Abdil
"Furlong" Mahdzan decided to recruit Jason Breault from Newark,
Delaware, into the team. After a thorough discussion with another team
member, William Robyn from France, it was concluded that the addition
of Jason Breault would prove beneficial and invaluable to the team's efforts
of making it into the big time, with every single major project in the
team undertaken one step at a time.
In
light of these changes experienced by the team as a whole,
several issues had to be clarified. It was decided that the
old team members who were inactive and were no longer contributing
to the team be dropped, ensuring that the new image of the
team puts it in a positive light where marketing and sponsorship
reasons are concerned. Inevitably, sacrifices had to be made
to ensure that the team is kept moving at a constant pace,
being actively involved in the gravity sports community.

Some
of the major steps taken by the team was the need for team-specific
promotional items to be brought and used at racing events. THP acquired
two new sponsors this season, namely SYED Leathers and Mr Sign.
SYED Leathers has supplied team racers Abdil Mahdzan and Jason Breault
with their own custom leather suits incorporating the official team
colors, dark green and beige, into a hardcore design with a spike
motif. Mr Sign, on the other hand, greatly contributed to the team's
promotional efforts by helping to put the team's visions to reality.
The new THP logo was solely designed by Jason Breault and proves
to be easily recognized. With this new logo, Mr Sign helped to create
vinyl stickers, which can be seen on the seat pans of their luges,
a banner to be hung at the team's pit area, as well as custom vinyl
graphics for the team's truck. The team had also custom-painted
their Rogers Bros street luges and their helmets, in alignment with
the team's colors and making a statement. All these promotional
items incorporated the new THP logo, proving the fact that THP is
really getting serious into the whole thing and taking it even further
to levels beyond.
With
all these new additions, THP is set to make an official appearance at racing
events in the USA, with two active racing members. Their first event of the
season will be the King of the Hill event held in Bainbridge, Ohio, on April
16-17, 2004. The event will be sanctioned by the IGSA and is solely sponsored
by Red Bull. The next planned event for THP is the Madison County Gravity Festival
held in Munnsville, New York, on July 31-August 1, 2004. Be sure to catch THP
at the races near you! |
